Principal Engineer - Frontend

What awaits you • Responsibility for the frontend architecture across multiple teams and domains - from Storefront and Search to Checkout, Account and Loyalty • Further development of our standards for React, TypeScript, Server-Side Rendering, Micro-Frontends and Self-Contained Systems • Building and establishing common component foundations as well as a scalable design system • Targeted optimization of Web Performance and Core Web Vitals as relevant levers for Customer Experience and Conversion • Design of modern rendering, streaming, edge, caching and bundle strategies as well as meaningful frontend observability • Elimination of organization-wide technical blockers in local development, tooling, build pipelines and architecture • Anchoring of Security, Accessibility and Privacy by Default in the entire frontend landscape • Definition and further development of our AI tooling strategy including suitable architecture, automated code reviews and effective use of modern engineering tools • Technical coaching of engineers and team leads as well as close collaboration with Domain Architecture, Product Management and Leadership • Representation of our technical direction within the organization, towards budget holders and in the external tech community What you bring with you • At least ten years of experience in modern software development with a strong focus on the frontend as well as at least two years in a technical leadership or architecture role • Deep practical experience with React and TypeScript in productive, business-critical applications • Sound knowledge in Server-Side Rendering, for example with Next.js, Remix or a comparable setup, as well as with Micro-Frontends or Self-Contained Systems • Proven expertise in Web Performance, Core Web Vitals, Accessibility and the development of fast, scalable customer experiences • Confident handling of concepts such as DDD, Clean Architecture, Event-Driven Architecture, SOLID, Feature Flags and Dependency Injection as well as with Design Systems, State Management and Component-Driven Development • Solid understanding of distributed systems, DevOps practices, automated testing, CI/CD and the operation of systems according to the principle "You build it, you run it" • Experience in a fast, product-oriented engineering organization with short iterations, regular releases and real end-to-end responsibility • Enjoyment in sharpening requirements together with Product Management, understanding customer needs and making technical decisions from a user and business perspective • Strong coaching and communication skills, servant-leadership mindset as well as the ability to drive complex changes with perseverance, warmth and humor • Very good German and/or English skills as well as continuous curiosity about new technologies, methods and AI-supported software development Benefits • Discounts: Attractive discounts in the Brack online shop as well as lunch discounts and staff restaurants in Mägenwil and Willisau. • Recovery: At least 5 weeks vacation, additionally there is the possibility for vacation purchase and unpaid leave. • Development: Internal training in our own Academy as well as financial participation in external further training. • Family: 18 weeks paid maternity leave with extension possibility and 4 weeks paid paternity leave. • Insurance: Extra-mandatory - 100% continued payment of wages and full financing of daily sickness insurance by the employer. • Mobility: Free parking spaces, financial participation in public transport and pool vehicles for business appointments.
