Java Backend Software Engineer

The team's mission

The team's mission is to develop and maintain APIs, platforms and financial services for professional and institutional partners.

About the position

We are looking for a Software Engineer who combines strong software engineering skills with a product approach to build high-performance solutions for our clients and employees.

You will design, develop and deploy AI-native and non-AI-native applications, supporting the full cycle, from backend services and model integration to user experience and performance monitoring. Working closely with the Product Owner, product strategy and business teams, you will help transform our legacy solutions through practical and reliable internal AI solutions.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain AI-generated and non-AI applications using coding agents such as ClaudeCode
• Collaborate at all stages of software development, from ideation to deployment, working closely with diverse teams
• Contribute significantly to technical choices, perform code reviews and conduct testing
• Ensure high standards of code quality and continuously improve best practices
• Work closely with product owners to architect quality solutions and improve product functionality and user experience.
• Provide support on applications maintained by the team to ensure customer satisfaction
• Participate in or lead complex projects with minimal supervision, delivering features iteratively
• Ensure that solutions meet the security, compliance and governance requirements expected in a regulated financial environment.

Your skill set:

• Experience in developing production-quality software applications.
• Strong programming skills in Java and modern software development frameworks.
• Knowledge of scalable software architectures including microservices, APIs (REST, GraphQL), containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes) and messaging systems (RabbitMQ)
• Knowledge of version control systems such as Git
• Knowledge of Linux, Docker, Jenkins, Tomcat and databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, Redis)
• Knowledge of test-driven development: Jbehave, TestNG, Selenium, etc.
• Familiarity or willingness to work with event-driven architectures
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, prompt engineering and AI application development via specification-driven development is strongly recommended.
• Strong problem-solving skills and product-oriented thinking.
• Experience in banking, financial services or fintech is a plus.
• Proficiency in English, French is an asset.
